Ground Resistance Testing

American Testco, Inc. offers Ground Resistance Testing for customers who desire information about a potential or existing ground field. All tests are performed in accordance with ASTM & IEEE standards.

This program includes a comprehensive data package that provides you with all field data and graphic depictions of test results.

  • 4pt Soil Resistivity Test

The purpose of this test is to determine the electrical conductivity properties of the soil. Based on the test data, a suitable earth electrode grounding system can be designed to meet the requirements of the communications structure to adequately dissipate lightning transients.

  • 3pt Earth Resistance (Fall of Potential) Test

The purpose of this test is to determine the interaction of an existing buried ground ring and the surrounding earth. The recorded values are in ohms, with readings of 5 ohms or less being generally accepted as adequate.

  • Digital Clamp-On Resistance Test

The purpose of this test is to determine the quality of the connection between the cell site grounding system and the grounding system of either the existing building or previously bonded site.
